Registered Jan 1980 and V5 present with us in our name. Engine starts on the button, with very little smoke. Perkins 4 cylinder unit, lovely simple engine.
Will work hard but not overheat or throw out oil, smoke, or water. No churning around for ages to get going.
Runs clean and pulls very well. I was told that this was turbocharged from new as there was a shortage of the factory turbo models. Uprated oil cooler, and larger bore stainless exhaust stack fitted with the well known Opico Turbo kit. 4 speed gearbox with high and low ratio, giving 8 forward gears and 2 reverse. All gears select OK and don't jump out in use. All hydraulics work fine, as does PTO. We used a 6' topper no problem. Power steering, so very easy to operate.
Loader will lift 1 tonne dumpy bags, or big bales with spike attachment (not supplied). Loader bucket works fine and tips with hydraulic ram. Never given any trouble apart from a leaking hydraulic hose on loader last month, which was replaced with new. Owned by us since 2013. Used for topping and occasional use of loader for maintaining access track. However solid this tractor is, please remember it is a used item, and will have some minor issues. In the interest of fair play, I will list what I know of them. Lower cab has some rust damage, and some superficial rust and dents higher up.All glass intact and fitted apart from lower panel below opening rear window. I have the glass intact, but it looks like it was removed by a previous owner in order to allow easier reach to power -hitch release lever.
Much of vinyl cab lining is missing, but rubber floor mat in situ. Body paint a bit faded, but loader recently painted. Solid underneath the new paint. Original seat replaced with later moulded seat mounted to original seat frame. Headlights have seen better days, but I have some new work lamps that will come with the tractor if required.
These can be cab mounted to offer better illumination as the loader can obscure standard headlights. Front indicator/sidelights have had it, but wiring is OK. I have some non-standard replacements FOC if required. Temp gauge doesn't work, but engine has never shown any signs of overheating. Windscreen wiper just stopped working. Was OK last week so I will check fuses. Pin hitch bar at back currently doesn't have upper holed section attached.
Cab access step slightly loose. I clouted it on a girder post and broke one weld. Not much of a job to re-secure. Rear tyres 50% Front 50% but both a little perished and cracked. Other than these minor issues its a good solid tractor that has plenty of working life left in it.
I drove it 9 plus miles last month from storage barn to our home with no issues. No complicated gearbox or complex electronics to go wrong.
All the reasons why we bought this tractor in the first place, and why the MF500 series is so highly regarded. NO VAT applicable, but all funds must be cleared into our bank before tractor and documentation is released. I have tried to be as thorough as possible with listing, but any questions please ask. Scammers, time wasters and con artists look elsewhere. I've been around the block and heard it all before.
